Explanatory Standard 6.8
Instructional Materials and Equipment
The school provides equipment that is well maintained, properly stored, age-appropriate, and easily accessible for student/teacher use, including:
- a variety of art materials available to all students, which include easels, paints, brushes, markers, crayons, clay, chalk, paste/glue scissors, construction paper, as well as books about art and artists.
- science equipment and materials, adequate for the needs of the instructional programs such as microscopes, scales, models, lab and supplies, aquarium/terrariums, animal cages and food, specimens, posters, as well as books on a variety of scientific subjects.
- indoor play equipment for early childhood programs, such as: transportation toys,
blocks, wheeled toys, housekeeping furniture and articles, doll houses, manipulatives,
games.
- music equipment and materials adequate for the needs of the instructional program such as pianos or keyboards, phonographs, tape or CD players, rhythm instruments, band instruments, records/tapes, music books, books on composers.
- physical education equipment adequate for the needs of the instructional and/or athletic programs, such as: various types and sizes of balls, scooters, jump ropes, hoola hoops, parachutes, equipment for soccer, baseball, basketball, track, football and other sports; physical fitness equipment; as well as gym apparatus, if a gymnasium is available.
- computer and technology equipment with adequate computers and software available
for students to fulfill the school’s mission and educational objectives.
